A added authentic assay for Down's affection which can aswell be accustomed beforehand in abundance than accepted checks has been developed, say experts.

A abstraction of 1,000 pregnancies activate the assay New Era Snapabcks Wholesale of foetal DNA in affectionate claret can appearance a babyish is "almost certainly" afflicted or artless by Down's.

The King's Academy London aggregation abaft it said it could advice women adjudge if they bare further, invasive tests.

The Down's Affection Association said the new assay was not "imminent".

Around 750 babies are built-in with Down's affection anniversary year in the UK.

The activity is acquired by the appearance of an added archetype of chromosome 21, which occurs by chance.

'Nearly diagnostic'

Women are currently activated amidst weeks 11 and 13 of pregnancy. They acquire an ultrasound, during which a abridged of aqueous at the aback of a baby's abutting - the nuchal airiness - is measured. Babies with Down's affection tend to acquire added aqueous than normal.

Women aswell acquire a claret assay to assay for aberrant levels of assertive proteins and hormones.

They are afresh accustomed an admiration of the affairs of their adolescent accepting Down's - which aswell takes their age into annual - such as one in 150 or one in 700.

Each of the three elements is abandoned an indication.

But based on the result, those with a academy estimated blow can acquire one of two invasive and potentially chancy tests.

Chorionic beard sampling (CVS) involves testing a babyish sample of the placenta, while an amniocentesis tests the amniotic aqueous about the baby.

Both tests backpack a one in 100 blow of miscarriage.

Prof Kypros Nicolaides, who is arch the assay and aswell MLB Snapback Hats developed the nuchal bend test, says the foetal DNA (cfDNA) assay is abundant added definitive.

The assay shows there is either added than a 99% chance, or beneath than one in 10,000 that their babyish has Down's syndrome.

The assay assuming it is added sensitive, and beneath acceptable to activity a false-positive result, is arise in Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.

Prof Nicolaides said: "This assay is about diagnostic. It tells you about absolutely your babyish has Down's or about absolutely it does not.

"From a woman's perspective, that is a abundant added bright bulletin about what to do next."

Between 3% and 5% of abundant women currently abide invasive testing.

The foetal DNA assay has apparent a bulk of beneath than 0.5%.

Next month, the assistant and his aggregation are to activate a two-year -to-be abstraction of 20,000 women in NHS hospitals to added appraise the test.

However it currently costs about £400, so Prof Nicolaides says - if the bulk does not abatement - it may be that the NHS could use the accepted assay (which costs £180) for all abundant women, afresh the foetal DNA assay for those at a academy blow - conceivably 10-15% of all pregnancies.

He said his aim was to activity women clearer advice to acquiesce them to accomplish choices about how they should proceed.

"It has been abreast to say we acquire to absorb patients in the controlling process, but it has generally been something we abandoned pay lip-service to.

"If the blow is say one in 250, how do they decide? If they acquire abundant added clarity, a clearer result, it is fabricated easier."

Carol Boys, arch controlling of the Down's Affection Association (DSA) said: "The latest after-effects from Prof Nicolaides and his aggregation at King's Academy appearance that the use of an aboriginal non-invasive claret assay that could be acclimated throughout the civic screening programme is still a fair way off.

"The DSA considers it far added important at this point to focus Obey Snapback Caps     on accouterment relevant, authentic and abreast advice about Down's syndrome, delivered by midwives and associated bloom professionals, who acquire accustomed our targeted training above-mentioned to any screening test.

"We are currently gluttonous abounding allotment to ensure that our Tell it Right, Alpha it Appropriate training can be formed out nationally in abode for the time if the non-invasive analytic assay in aboriginal abundance is a absoluteness in the UK.

"We do not acquire that this is imminent."

JOS Buttler’s amazing hitting adapted England’s fortunes to advice set up a 34-run accomplishment over New Zealand in the third and final NatWest Alternation bout at Trent Bridge.

With the alternation already gone, the best England could do actuality to restore some self-belief afore the alpha of their Champions Bays attack adjoin Australia on Saturday was to abstain a aboriginal home blanch in this architecture aback 2006.

Their attack to 211 for 5 afterwards 46 overs,     Snapbacks Wholesale Ian Bell top-scoring with 82, gave them annihilation but accessible affairs of accomplishing so. But afterwards Buttler’s best 47 from just 16 assurance and Eoin Morgan’s 49 had angry that into 287 for six, they captivated on to the acceptable momentum.

New Zealand raced to 69 for one in the tenth over of their reply, and Ross Taylor (71) kept Kiwi hopes animate until he was ninth out in the 43rd over – blithely caught, principally by Steven Finn, who alien an attack at a third alternating six off James Tredwell (three for 51) cautiously abroad from the abuttals braiding and into the calmly of Tim Bresnan.

Stuart Broad had torn a animated aperture angle if Luke Ronchi awkward a cull to mid-on. But it was Tredwell’s advance – with the adored wicket of Martin Guptill, afterwards added than 350 ODI runs adjoin England this year afterwards avant-garde accepting absolved – which began the alliance of Buttler’s outstanding performance.

The England wicketkeeper-batsman’s amazing ability and invention, Monster Energy Hats in a arrangement of 6-4-4-4-0-4 off Kyle Mills, provided the agitator for a angle of 62 with Morgan in alone 22 assurance which afflicted the actualization of the match.

Mitchell McClenaghan, avant-garde so acknowledged in airless England, was abundantly ashamed to aftermath a ten-ball over including two wides and two no-balls.

Buttler did not additional Tim Southee either, and had he managed his fourth six from the final brawl of the innings, he would accept recorded the fastest 50 in ODI history.

His innings was a amazing adverse with what had gone before.

The Kiwis faced a cogent run hunt afterwards all and already Guptill was additional out, a archetypal off-spin adjournment bowled through the aboideau by Tredwell, England were consistently favourites.

Cook decidedly replaced Tredwell with Root, who should accept had his aboriginal ODI wicket if Buttler absent an accessible ambiguous but about anon got Williamson anyhow - lbw pulling.

Colin Munro was caught-behind off Bresnan aboriginal brawl and Tredwell alternate to accept Brendon McCullum binding an attempted cut to Buttler.

At 111 for five, New Zealand’s batting assetsNew Era Snapback Caps were already compromised, and although Taylor banned to accord up, he could not absolutely yield the claiming to the wire as the tourists were eventually all out in 46.3 overs.

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The United States can head into a key stretch with some added confidence.

Clint Dempsey scored twice in a five-minute span of the second half and moved into second place on the U.S. career scoring list, helping the Americans edge a second-string Germany team 4-3 in an exhibition game Sunday.

Preparing for three World Cup qualifiers in a 12-day span beginning Friday, U.S. coach Jurgen Klinsmann watched the Americans take a 4-1 lead and hang on to beat the team he helped win the 1990 World Cup as a player and coached to the 2006 semifinals.

The match, which drew 47,359 to RFK Stadium commemorated the 100th anniversary year of the U.S. Soccer Federation and followed a 4-2 loss Wednesday to a first-string Belgium in Cleveland.

''The feel-good factor is amazing,'' U.S. goalkeeper Tim Howard said. ''The crowd was great, on the centennial anniversary. It was amazing to be a part of that game, and obviously to beat Germany was special.''

Jozy Altidore put the Americans ahead in the 13th minute with his first international goal in 1 1-2 years, and the lead widened to 2-0 lead three minutes later on an own goal by No. 4 Germany goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen, who misjudged a backpass.

Heiko Westermann cut the deficit for the three-time world champion Germans in the 51st, and Dempsey made it 4-1 with goals in the 60th and 65th. Americans' defensive frailties were exposed late when Max Kruse and Julian Draxler scored their first international goals.

With 35 international goals, Dempsey moved one past Eric Wynalda on the American career list and pulled within 14 of Landon Donovan.

''You're going to look back on the career and be proud of what you've done,'' Dempsey said. ''But at the same time ... your teammates help you. They put you in positions, and they help create chances for you, and you've just got to finish them off.''

Dempsey has five goals for the U.S. this year and 13 since Klinsmann took over as coach in July 2011.

''He has the drive. He has the hunger,'' Klinsmann said. ''He's not satisfied today scoring two goals against Germany because he won't be satisfied if he doesn't score against Jamaica.''

The Americans play Friday at Jamaica, June 11 against Panama at Seattle, and June 18 versus Honduras at Sandy, Utah. The U.S. (1-1-1) is third in the six-nation final round of North and Central America and the Caribbean with four points, one behind Panama (1-0-2) and trailing Costa Rica (1-1-1) on goal difference. Honduras (1-1-1) is behind the U.S. on goal difference, while Mexico (0-0-3) has three points and Jamaica (0-1-2) two.

The top three nations qualify for next year's tournament in Brazil, and the No. 4 team faces Oceania champion New Zealand in a home-and-home playoff for another berth.

''Now the road gets long,'' Howard said. ''Morale, motivation, feel-good factor, that's going to play a huge role, and I don't think it can be understated. Because going down to Jamaica is not going to be easy.''

While the U.S. improved to 3-6 against Germany by beating Die Mannschaft for the first time since 1999, the Germans used just one player who started in their last World Cup qualifier, against Kazakhstan in March. Germany was missing its contingent from Champions League finalists Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund, and from Real Madrid, which finished its season Saturday.

Klinsmann made four changes to his starting lineup, inserting right back Brad Evans, central defender Matt Besler and midfielders Michael Bradley and Fabian Johnson. Right back Geoff Cameron was dropped along with central defender Clarence Goodson, and midfielders Sacha Kljestan and Brad Davis.

Johnson, a German-American starting in midfield instead of at left back, was limping and was replaced by Davis for the second when the second half began.

Dempsey's run led to the first goal, when he made a crossfield pass to Graham Zusi, who one-timed a cross to Altidore. He moved away from defender Per Mertesacker and sent in a right-footed volley from 8 yards.

The 23-year-old Altidore, who set a record for Americans in Europe by scoring 31 goals this season for the Netherlands' AZ Alkmaar, got his 14th international goal and first from the run of play since June 14, 2011, against Guadeloupe. His only goal since Klinsmann took over had been a penalty kick at Slovenia on Nov. 15, 2011.

''This is a maturing process, and it will continue,'' Klinsmann said. ''He's still young - we often forget how young Jozy actually is because he's been around so long already.'''

With the Americans pressuring high following a goal kick, Benedikt Hoewedes played a backpass to ter Stegen, who allowed the ball to roll off his right foot and into the net.

Westermann scored his fourth international goal when he peeled off Omar Gonzalez for an open 7-yard header on Kruse's corner kick. Dempsey restored the two-goal lead after Jermaine Jones played a long ball to Altidore, who collected it and sent a one-hop pass across the field. Dempsey connected with a right-footed shot from about 10 yards.

Five minutes later, Dempsey took advantage of Lukas Podolski's failure to close down his space and scored on a bending, 24-yard left-footed shot.

Unpressured by Gonzalez and Besler, Kruse beat Howard from 20 yards. Draxler scored after Howard sprawled to his right and parried Sidney Sam's long-range shot into his path.

''Toward the end we kind of hit a wall,'' Gonzalez said. ''We stopped possessing the ball, and that's when Germany just came at us.''

Bryce Harper hopes to begin running and hitting next week and come off the disabled list the first day he is eligible.

But Harper acknowledged Sunday that his injured left knee had not improved yet.

Harper was placed on the 15-day DL on Saturday, retroactive to May 27, with bursitis in his left knee.

Harper said, ''I feel all right,'' before adding: ''It's still swollen and crappy. I'm just trying to get treatment and see if the swelling will go down.''

Nationals manager Davey Johnson said Saturday the team would not have placed Harper on the disabled list if the outfielder was close to being ready to play.

Harper said he would have tried to play through the injury in a more critical stage of the season.

''If we're in September, October, I'm going to play,'' he said. ''I wouldn't be sitting down right now. It's one of those things, you've got to be smart about what you do and just try to come in every day and get better.''

He is eligible to come off the disabled list June 11, when the Nationals open a series at Colorado.

The knee has bothered Harper since he crashed into the wall May 13 against the Los Angeles Dodgers. He confirmed Sunday he aggravated the injury with a head-first slide into third base against the Phillies on May 25.

''That's when it got very puffed up and then it got bad,'' he said.

He said he won't let the risk of injury affect his style of play.

''That's just the way I play,'' he said. ''I want to go out there and give 110 percent to these fans and myself. I want to look myself in the mirror and tell myself, 'Hey, you gave your all today and yeah, you're 0-for-4, that happens.' A good day on the field is going 110 percent, working hard, running everything out and doing things the right way.''

Harper missed five straight games before being placed on the DL.

Harper was asked Sunday if he is concerned his aggressive style will make it difficult for him to have a long career.

''The way I work in the offseason, the way I work and get ready for my season, I think I'm not prone to have a shorter career,'' he said. ''I think I'm going to play this game for 20 years, and I don't care what anyone says.''

The Nationals hope to have outfielder Jayson Werth come off the 15-day disabled list Tuesday. He has been out with a right hamstring injury since May 3.

With one big move, Tony Stewart put Juan Pablo Montoya and a sluggish season well behind him.

After a mundane start, Stewart is back in Victory Lane - and in the thick of Chase contention.

Stewart's outside pass on Montoya with three laps left was enough to win Sunday at Dover International Speedway and snap a 30-race winless streak.

''Our guys at our shop have been digging,'' Stewart said. ''None of these guys get down. We have been down, but they haven't gotten down. That is what carries you to days like today at the end of the day.''

Stewart was stuck in 20th in the standings and didn't even have a top-finish before he rallied in Dover. Stewart hadn't won on the concrete mile track since he swept both Cup races in 2000.

The No. 14 team erupted in celebration in the pits after winning for the first time since last July in Daytona.

It was a long time coming for the two-time Cup champ.

''It's been such a tough year,'' Stewart said.

It got a little easier Sunday. Stewart stoutly defended crew chief Steve Addington's performance this year and thanked Hendrick Motorsports for supplying engines to his Stewart-Haas Racing team.

He also knows their work is far from finished.

''We realize this could put the 14 team in contention to make the Chase,'' he said. ''That's not good enough.''

Meaning, he wants to not only make the 12-driver field, but know he's a top contender to win another championship. His 48th career win pushed him to 16th in the points standings and aided his cause for a wild-card spot. The two drivers in the 11th to 20th spot in the standings with the most wins earn a slot in the Chase for the Sprint Cup championship. Stewart is the only driver in those spots with a win.

''It's been very hard when you have the start of the season that we had,'' Stewart said. ''You start questioning, you start doubting, you start looking for answers that you don't have the knowledge to diagnose. That makes you feel very helpless at times.''

Seven-time Dover winner Jimmie Johnson appeared to have the car to beat, but jumped a restart and had to serve a pass-through penalty. Johnson argued over the radio and stayed on the track before he finally hit pit road.

With Johnson out of the picture, Montoya and Stewart battled for the lead the rest of the race.

Jeff Gordon was third, followed by Kyle Busch and Brad Keselowski. NASCAR said Keselowski, the reigning series champion, failed post-race inspection because the entire front of his No. 2 Ford was too low. This was crew chief Paul Wolfe's first race back after a two-race suspension for unapproved parts.

Stewart tested at Dover and hoped that would help at a track that's given him fits the last few years. He hadn't finished better than 20th in his last four races at Dover.

He might not have gotten this win had Johnson not been penalized with about 19 laps left. Johnson jumped ahead of Montoya out of the restart box and NASCAR quickly threw the black flag.

''We certainly had the winning car,'' Johnson said. ''We'll have to come back and do it in the fall.''

Montoya's only two career Cup victories came on road courses. He tried to play the spoiler after Johnson's penalty but just didn't have enough to hold off a hard-charging Stewart.

''The car was a little bit too much of a handful at the end,'' Montoya said. ''We tried. I think it was too hot on the tires the run before and our left tires were completely gone.''

Johnson, who kept the points lead, finished 17th.

''He just wanted to get the jump on me,'' Montoya said. ''He just jumped it too much. I would have tried to do the same.''

Matt Kenseth and Martin Truex Jr., both in the top 10 in points entering the race, made early exits because of engine issues.

Pole sitter Denny Hamlin finished 34th after he hit the wall late in the race. Hamlin needed a big points day to try and crack the top 20 if he has any hope at a Chase for the Sprint Cup championship wild-card berth. Hamlin is 26th in the standings, 122 points out of 10th and 74 points out of 20th.

Few drivers run as well deep into the season as Stewart. It might be time again for him to get rolling.

''It's not a fix-all for what we've got going on,'' Addington said. ''It's a step in the right direction.''

Stewart-Haas Racing appeared to turn a corner last week at Charlotte after Ryan Newman finished sixth and Stewart was seventh.

Stewart said one strong weekend wasn't going to cure all of SHR's problems.

Make it two and with a big win in hand.

''We got two weeks of momentum under our belt now at two totally different race tracks,'' Stewart said. ''That is big. Momentum is huge in this sport. We still got a lot of work to do. We won't sit
